Mis­de­meanors

Class C Mis­de­meanors include tick­ets such as Pub­lic Intox­i­ca­tion, Speed­ing, Fail­ure to Con­trol Speed, and Minor in Pos­ses­sion of Alco­hol. The pun­ish­ment typ­i­cally includes a fine. There is no jail time asso­ci­ated with such offenses. 

Class B Mis­de­meanors include such offenses such as Dri­ving While Intox­i­cated, Pos­ses­sion of Mar­i­juana, Theft, and Dri­ving While License Sus­pended. The range of pun­ish­ment is up to 6 Months in Jail, up to a $2,000.00 Fine or a com­bi­na­tion of the two. 

Class A Mis­de­meanors include such offenses as a Sec­ond Dri­ving While Intox­i­cated, Assault, and Evad­ing Arrest/Detention on Foot. The range of pun­ish­ment is up to 12 Months in Jail, up to a $4,000.00 Fine or a com­bi­na­tion of the two.

Felonies

State Jail Felonies include such offenses as Pos­ses­sion of a Con­trolled Sub­stance, Evad­ing Arrest/Detention with a Vehi­cle, and Bur­glary of a Build­ing. The range of pun­ish­ment is up to 24 Months in Jail, up to a $10,000.00 Fine or a com­bi­na­tion of the two.

Third Degree Felonies include such offenses as a Third or More Dri­ving While Intox­i­cated, Aggra­vated Per­jury, and Forgery. The range of pun­ish­ment is from 2 to 10 Years in Jail, up to a $10,000.00 Fine or a com­bi­na­tion of the two.

Sec­ond Degree Felonies include such offenses such as Manslaugh­ter, Sex­ual Assault, and Aggra­vated Assault. The range of pun­ish­ment is from 2 to 20 Years in Jail, up to a $10,000.00 Fine or a com­bi­na­tion of the two.

First Degree Felonies include such offenses as Mur­der, Aggra­vated Sex­ual Assault, and Aggra­vated Kid­nap­ping. The range of pun­ish­ment is from 5 to 99 Years in Jail, up to a $10,000.00 Fine or a com­bi­na­tion of the two.

Fed­eral Charges

Fed­eral Charges include such offenses as Dri­ving While Intox­i­cated on Fed­eral Grounds, Trans­porta­tion of Ille­gal Immi­grants, and Solic­i­ta­tion of as Minor. Pun­ish­ment Ranges are deter­mined with the aid of the Fed­eral Sen­tenc­ing Guidelines.
